Structural steel

The term structural steel refers to a term in general use that is used to define a group of steels specially designed for the construction of all types of structures, for buildings and for components of industrial machines.

Structural steel is basically produced for the construction of buildings

Structural steel is produced primarily for building construction (also called construction steels) and has a specific shape, chemical composition, and strength adapted for this purpose. These parameters (and others such as the form of storage) are regulated by particular standards in most industrialized countries.

Like other types of steel, the main components are iron and carbon. The more carbon added to the alloy, the greater the strength and the less ductility of the finished product.
