Galvanized steel

The galvanized flame or galvanization to the process by which a metallic layer is applied on another different metal using an electric current.

The concept of galvanizing comes from the Italian scientist Luigi Galvani (1737-1798) who discovered that when an electrical current is applied to a muscle of a dead animal, it undergoes a contraction. Later, he ordered the metals according to their charge and discovered that one metal can be coated with another, always depositing a metal with a higher charge on another with a lower charge.

The main function of galvanizing is to protect the surface of the metal on which the process is carried out.

One of the most frequent galvanizing is carried out by applying a layer of zinc on iron, in such a way that the iron is protected since the zinc is exposed to the air and this, when it comes into contact with oxygen, rusts. A typical example of this type of galvanizing is pipes or pipes.
